Switzerland is amazing!! Oh, I love it so much and definitely
did not have enough time there! But before I get ahead of myself let me start
from the beginning.
As we planned all of our trips we tried to find the best
flights and travel plans that would be the cheapest but also give us the most
time possible in each of our areas.
There are no flights that go directly from Iasi to Switzerland so the
next best thing we could find was to fly from Iasi to Bucharest and then from Bucharest
to Zurich, Switzerland. From Zurich we then took a train to Interlaken where we
stayed for 4 days. Thursday night is
when we started our adventure, our flight left at 9:30pm, we arrived in Bucharest
around 11pm and then our flight to Switzerland did not leave till 5am so we
stayed the night in the airport. It
saved us money, but I honestly got no sleep! Friday we arrived in Interlaken
around 12pm and surprisingly we still had enough energy to get all settled in
to our hostel, get lunch/dinner and explore the town. Interlaken is a town between two lakes and on
the other two side of the town are large towering mountains!! It is so beautiful there!! There is a large field in the middle of the
town where paragliders and parasailers are always landing! It looks so pretty!
Friday through Monday were so relaxing, rejuvenating, and
peaceful! I loved being able to be in the mountains! We went on two amazing hikes and were able to
walk around and enjoy the green beauty of Interlaken. Saturday was our first big hike and we hiked
to the top of one of the mountains right there in Interlaken. It was a pretty steep hike and took us about
2 hours but when we reached the top it was so beautiful!! You could see all of Interlaken,
the two lakes that boarded the town and the beautiful alps behind it!! On our way back down there was a big green
grassy hill and Emri and I could not just walk passed it without rolling down it,
so we did but I paid for it! That night I
found a tick on my stomach…. My first tick ever and I got it in Switzerland! Haha.
I tried to take it out myself but accidently only ripped the body off, so the
head was still under my skin, luckily with the help of my two friends, Kendra
and Emri, and my mom on facetime we were able to get the whole tick out! That was a little scary!
Sunday was more of a chill day, we walked around the town
and walked down to Lake Thun and enjoyed the sun! There are also cows all over with bells
around the neck, so it sounds super cool, but we were able to get some more
pictures with them!
-----> I forgot to mention that on Saturday we passed some cows on our hike and I got so close to one that she liked my hand! It was pretty funny, and only a little scary...haha
Monday we took a train up to Lauterbrunnen (a town J.R.R.
Tolkien based Rivendell off of in the Lord of the Rings!) Lauterbrunnen is another
small town in between huge towering mountains!
It is so beautiful and when we first got up there the sun had not come
over the mountains yet, so it still had that calm peaceful early morning feel
about it! We first walked around the town and to a waterfall down town. There are supposed to be 72-something waterfalls
in Lauterbrunnen, after the small hike to that first waterfall we took a
Gondola and a train ride up to the an even smaller town called Müren. There are several hikes in Müren that are
supposed to take you to more waterfalls, so we chose one that went in a circle
up above the town. As we were hiking we
came across some cows that were laying down on the side of the trail. We were
able to get some pretty cool pictures with them! Our hike continued to get
steeper and steeper till we reached the top, but it was totally worth it for
the sight that we were able to see!! It felt as if I was in a painting with the
mountains being so big, snowy and rocky!! And we had clear skies the whole day!
On our hike down there was another big green grassy hill so Emri and I had to
keep the tradition up!! Unfortunately, this hill ended up being a bit bumpier
and had hidden clumps of dirt (or cow poop).
Haha it was harder to roll down, but we did our best!
----> Also forgot to mention that on our way down we walked past some more cows but this time they were not as friendly! One started to walk up to me to I put my hand out to pet him but instead he lowered his head and started pushing me! Luckily, even with falling down onto the mountain side, I was able to get away but as I was sneaking past him he went for Emri and she started to fall down the other side of the trial. She got a video of it and it was pretty funny to watch as she fell. haha! Not to worry, no body got hurt and we were able to get away from those cows scratch free!
Switzerland is pretty expensive, so we made our own sack
lunches all four days but the dinners that we bought were so yummy and of
course we made sure we got cheese and chocolate fondue!! Another perk of being in a small town in the mountains
was the fresh clean air and at night we could see the stars!! (I have really
missed the stars!)
Tuesday morning was a sad morning because we had to pack up
all our things and head out, we did not have nearly enough time there but there
were many more fun unforgettable adventures waiting for us at our next
destination! :)
